Schuyler Hillard, LLMSW
In seeking therapy, you’ve already taken the first step toward your emotional and social wellbeing and you should be proud as it takes courage to do that. It can be scary to tell your story to a stranger—scary to be vulnerable. As your therapist, I can assure you that I will listen without judgment and will encourage and assist you on your journey. I have unconditional respect and empathy for those who come to therapy and I will provide you with a safe space to explore your concerns.
I am a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Social Work and also a Detroit Clinical Scholar. The Detroit Clinical Scholars Program addresses the mental and behavioral health of racial and ethnic minority children and adolescent youth living in underserved, urban areas. My work with Detroit, Wayne County Mental Health Authority gave me an excellent grounding as a clinician. My experience working in a variety of settings with diverse populations has helped shape my therapeutic techniques. I have over seven years of experience working with children, young adults, and families who have experienced loss, anxiety, depression and/or trauma. I believe that everyone is capable of being authors of their own transformations, and I can provide you with support and concrete therapy techniques and strategies that address your individual strengths and challenges. I specialize in depression, anxiety, PTSD, sexual health and trauma and I enjoy helping clients of all ages adjust to changes and challenges in their lives. My personal interests inform my work as a collaborative social worker. Art, writing, music, animals and nature inspire and feed me. I’d love to learn your interests and strengths so that together we can find therapy tools and techniques that suit your individual needs. The journey starts here. Welcome aboard. |
